Neurocybernetics

Neurocybernetics is the combination of cybernetics and the study of controlling or governing systems, with nervous systems.

In other words, whilst it is acknowledged that the nervous system controls the organism, neurocybernetics deals with understanding what controls and regulates that nervous system; what the hierarchies are, the degree of plasticity, and how it interfaces with outside networks.

This directly relates to VR of course, in terms of brain-machine interfaces, as one of neurocybernetics' many functions is to teach us where the connections are and where new connections can be made to control or interface with specific parts of the brain. Thus all forms of direct brain interface and direct peripheral nervous system interface, are a form of neurocybernetics.
