Pixelation
Pixelation is an unsightly effect caused when you attempt to view a bitmap texturemap at a resolution higher than it was designed for ? such as when you try to bring it too close to the viewpoint. The pixels separate such that it takes more than one pixel on the display medium to show one pixel of the texture, resulting in a blocky feel.
Interpolation methods are often used to mask this effect. Another approach is dynamic resampling.
