At best, ActiveWorld's graphics have a dated look, and that is a shame. Reaching a pinnacle in the mid 1990s, they never really seemed to move on after that, and sadly, it really shows. Despite these limits, users of AW have managed to build some really stunning landscapes, and set pieces, both static and interactive, to form the basis of their worlds. (picture, left, from AW world Ashmore, sadly no longer running). There are hundreds of thousands of stock objects to choose from, and users are encouraged to make and upload their own, from just about any standard 3D content creation tool. |
