Time modulated active marker MoCap

Time modulated active marker MoCap or motion capture, is actually simply a refinement to active marker MoCap.

Active marker is an optical real-time body positioning and movement tracking method whereby a network of LEDs all over the body, positioned along bones, and between joints, are illuminated one after the other, at a rate too swift for the human eye to catch.

Time modulation, instead of doing one at a time, strobes the LEDs. Several are turned on at the same time, but each flashes at a different frequency rate, allowing them to be individually ID?d. This form of unique marking, radically increases the resulting capture frequency, as instead of cycling through markers one at a time, they are done in staggered simultaneous batches.

The trade-off is of course a far higher processing overhead than standard active marker. However, in recent years, that has become almost a non-issue.
