Virtopsy A virtual autopsy or virtopsy (pleural virtopsies) is an autopsy that does minimal damage to the body and involves no cutting. Instead, a 3D scan of the surface of the body from all angles is taken, and combined with a detailed CT scan of the inside of the cadaver. These two datasets are then combined into a single 3D dataset, from which 3D models of various parts are created, resized and dissected as the coroner directs.
