Animated Pedagogical Agent

An automated pedagogical agent is a complex system, always involving an AI and some form of virtual environment that is set up specifically to take the place of a human teacher in instructing a user in a specific topic area. They are often utilised where a human teacher would be impractical; ie high-volume dynamic online environments.

Such agents are often used to supplement the abilities of qualified teaching staff, as in dedicated educational VR systems, and are often set up to analyse an individual learner?s progress and adjust themselves to the learner?s perceived ability level.
